How to use it

- 2Pick the output format — PNG, JPG, or WebP — and adjust the quality for JPG or WebP.
- 3Click Convert, compare the result, and download your converted image.
Different formats are good at different things, and the right one depends on what the image is. PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it the natural choice for screenshots, logos, icons, and anything with sharp edges or a transparent background. JPG throws away a little detail to produce much smaller files, so it is ideal for photographs and busy images where the compression is invisible. WebP is the modern web format that usually matches JPG or PNG quality at a smaller size, which is why so many sites prefer it. Converting lets you move an image to whichever format fits the job.
A lot of the time you convert simply because something on the other end demands a specific format. A form or uploader might reject a WebP and only accept JPG or PNG. A printer, an older app, or a teammate might not handle WebP at all, so you flip it back to PNG or JPG. Or you are optimizing a site and want everything as WebP. This tool covers those everyday swaps — PNG to JPG, JPG to PNG, WebP to PNG, PNG to WebP, JPG to WebP — without making you install anything.
Conversion happens entirely inside your browser using the Canvas API. There is no upload, no server, no watermark, and no account. The image you drop in is decoded, redrawn onto a canvas, and re-encoded into the new format locally on your own machine, which keeps it safe for private screenshots, client work, and anything you would rather not hand to a website. When you convert to JPG the canvas is filled with white first, so transparent areas come out clean white instead of black.
Keep in mind that some conversions affect quality. Going to JPG or WebP is lossy, so very high-detail images soften slightly — the quality slider lets you control how much. Converting a JPG to PNG will not restore detail the JPG already discarded; it just stops further loss. And converting to JPG flattens transparency, since JPG has no alpha channel. For exact, editable originals, keep a PNG copy alongside your converted file.
FAQ
- Is this tool free?
- Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark, and no limits. It runs entirely in your browser.
- Is my image uploaded anywhere?
- No. Everything happens locally using the Canvas API in your browser. The image is never sent to a server — it stays on your device the entire time.
- PNG vs JPG vs WebP — which should I pick?
- Use PNG for screenshots, logos, and anything with transparency or sharp edges (lossless). Use JPG for photographs where small file size matters. Use WebP for the web, where it usually beats both at the same quality. PNG is lossless; JPG and WebP are lossy with an adjustable quality.
- Does converting lose quality?
- It depends on the target format. PNG is lossless and keeps every pixel. JPG and WebP are lossy, so converting to them can soften fine detail — use the quality slider to control how much. Converting a JPG to PNG will not bring back detail the JPG already discarded, and converting to JPG removes transparency.
- Which input formats work?
- Any image your browser can decode, which covers the common web formats — PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, and BMP. HEIC and some camera RAW formats may not decode in every browser, so if a file will not load, convert it to JPG or PNG first and try again.
