Limelight
What is an Always-on-Top Window?
An always-on-top window stays visible above all other windows even when it is not the active app, so it never gets hidden behind them.
An always-on-top window is a window that remains above other windows in the stacking order even when you click away to a different app. Normally, the window you interact with comes to the front and others fall behind. An always-on-top (also called "floating" or "topmost") window breaks that rule and stays visible. This is useful for picture-in-picture video, reference panels, control widgets, and overlays that must remain in view.
The behavior is about layering, not focus. An always-on-top window can sit above everything while you continue working in the app beneath it. Some always-on-top layers also pass clicks through to the windows below so they do not block interaction. This combination makes them ideal for tools that need to stay visible during presentations and recordings without getting in the way.
Limelight uses always-on-top layering so its overlay is never hidden behind the app you are presenting. Its cursor spotlight, keystroke display, and freehand drawing float above your other windows and remain visible to your audience while you work normally underneath. Limelight is an overlay only: it stays on top to add visual aids and records or uploads nothing.

FAQ
- Does Limelight stay on top of my other apps?
- Yes. Limelight uses always-on-top layering so its overlay remains visible above the app you are presenting or recording.
- Will the always-on-top overlay block my clicks?
- Limelight is designed to add visual aids on top while you keep working underneath. It overlays the screen rather than taking over your apps.
